U.S. to host Lebanon-Israel peace talks on May 14-15, pushing for Hezbollah disarmament and full Lebanese sovereignty
The U.S. Department of State announced it will host a new round of intensive talks between Lebanon and Israel on May 14 and 15, following discussions held on April 23 led directly by President Trump.
Spokesman Thomas Pigott said the talks will focus on establishing a permanent framework for peace and security arrangements, full restoration of Lebanese sovereignty, border demarcation, and practical paths for humanitarian aid and reconstruction.
Washington reaffirmed its firm position that comprehensive peace requires the full restoration of Lebanese state authority and the disarmament of Hezbollah, which the U.S. designates as a foreign terrorist organisation.
Pigott described the talks as a new step toward ending decades of conflict between the two countries.

Iranian FM accuses U.S. of sabotaging diplomacy with military adventurism, warns Iran will never bow to pressure
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi accused the United States of repeatedly choosing reckless military action whenever a diplomatic solution is within reach, questioning whether it was a deliberate pressure tactic or the result of a spoiler manipulating the President into another quagmire. He warned that regardless of the cause, the outcome would remain the same – Iranians, he said, never bow to pressure.

Al Jaber warns global oil investment near decade low, risks future supply crisis amid current disruptions

He cautioned that without significant new investment, the current disruptions to supply chains and maritime routes could escalate into a major supply crisis down the line.

Habtoor praises Trump’s decades-long determination, calls his persistence a lesson regardless of political views
Emirati business magnate Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor praised President Donald Trump’s tenacity and determination, noting that Trump had been eyeing the presidency since the late 1980s with his first formal attempt around 1999-2000.
While making clear he does not agree with everything Trump says or does, Habtoor said the level of determination Trump displayed – enduring years of criticism, setbacks, and attacks before ultimately succeeding – is rare and worth recognising as a lesson in persistence, regardless of one’s political views.
