Qatar backs peaceful resolution, warns against using Strait of Hormuz as bargaining chip
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which the Iranian minister briefed him on the latest developments in ongoing negotiations and current diplomatic activity.
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for mediation efforts aimed at resolving the crisis peacefully, stressing the need for all parties to respond positively to those efforts in order to reduce the risk of renewed escalation.
He also emphasised that freedom of navigation is a “non-negotiable principle,” warning that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a bargaining chip would only deepen the crisis and threaten the region’s vital interests, with potential negative ripple effects on global energy and food supplies, as well as market and supply chain stability.

Iran’s foreign ministry slams Trump’s ‘piracy’ admission, calls on UN to reject normalisation of maritime violations
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei responded sharply to remarks by President Trump, in which the U.S. leader openly described the seizure of Iranian vessels as “piracy,” boasting that “we act like pirates.”
Baqaei called it “no verbal slip,” but rather “a direct and damning admission of the criminal nature of their actions against international maritime navigation,” urging the international community, UN member states, and the UN Secretary-General to firmly reject any normalisation of what he described as blatant violations of international law.

Trump doubts Iran’s peace proposal will be acceptable, says country hasn’t paid enough of a price
President Trump announced he will soon be reviewing a peace proposal submitted by Iran, but expressed strong skepticism it would meet U.S. standards.
In a Truth Social post, he stated he “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”
