Iran’s navy commander says Hormuz closed from Arabian Sea, claims seven missile strikes on USS Abraham Lincoln – Tasnim

Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz from the Arabian Sea and warned that any approach by hostile forces would be met with “operational action without delay,” according to a report by Tasnim news agency.

Irani claimed Iran carried out seven missile operations against the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during the conflict, which he said prevented the US from launching aircraft or conducting air operations from the carrier for a period.

He said Iran’s armed forces staged “at least 100 waves of decisive and successful reprisal against sensitive American and Israeli targets” across the region.

Despite the US blockade, Irani said “some vessels have departed from our ports, and some have reached their destinations.”

He also warned that Iran will “very soon” confront the enemy with a weapon “it is deeply afraid of,” adding “I hope they won’t have a heart attack.”

Irani dismissed the US-led campaign, saying the assumption that aggression against Iran would achieve quick results “has now turned into a joke in military academies.”

He said Iran has conditioned vessel passage through the strait on securing permission from Iranian authorities in response to the US blockade of Iranian ports, Tasnim reported.

Trump welcomes UAE’s exit from OPEC, says it could help lower oil prices

President Donald Trump welcomed the UAE’s decision to leave OPEC, telling reporters at the White House “I think it’s great.”

He said the move could help reduce energy costs, adding “I think ultimately it’s a good thing for getting the price of gas down, getting oil down, getting everything down.”

Trump also noted that OPEC is “having some problems,” as the departure comes amid an energy crisis caused by the Iran war that has exposed discord among Gulf nations.
