Germany’s Embassy in Pakistan announced its visa section will close from April 20 to at least April 21, 2026, due to road closures in Islamabad related to the US-Iran negotiations.
Applicants were told not to visit and that appointments will be rescheduled.
Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing the need for continued dialogue to resolve current issues and promote regional peace and stability.
Both agreed to remain in close contact and arranged a phone call between Iranian President Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif for later in the day.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei called the US blockade of Iranian ports “unlawful and criminal,” saying it violates the Pakistan-mediated ceasefire and Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.
He said it constitutes an act of aggression under UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 and amounts to “war crime and crime against humanity” by inflicting collective punishment on the Iranian population.
US President Donald Trump accused Iran of firing at vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it “a total violation of our ceasefire agreement” and saying shots were aimed at a French ship and a British freighter.
He announced his representatives will travel to Islamabad for negotiations tomorrow evening.
Trump dismissed Iran’s announcement that it was closing the strait, noting the US blockade had already shut it and that Iran is “helping us without knowing,” losing “$500 million dollars a day” while “the United States loses nothing.” He said ships are heading to the US to load up oil from Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska.
Trump said the US is offering “a very fair and reasonable DEAL” but warned that if Iran refuses, “the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran.”
He added “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY” and said “it will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years,” closing with “IT’S TIME FOR THE IRAN KILLING MACHINE TO END.”
