Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai has approved the New Fourth Corridor, a major road project spanning 80 kilometres from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah, designed to strengthen Dubai’s road network and improve connectivity with the UAE’s federal road infrastructure.
The corridor will carry 12 lanes in both directions and include 72 bridges and 17 tunnels. Authorities say it will cut journey times by up to 60 per cent and serve more than 3.1 million people. The route will also connect directly to Al Maktoum International Airport and Etihad Rail.
Construction will proceed in phases. The first, running from Al Shanouf Road to Dubai-Al Ain Road, carries a price tag of AED 3.5 billion.
Announcing the approval, Sheikh Hamdan said the project was in line with directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to increase investment in infrastructure. “This project reflects our continued commitment to investing in infrastructure as a driver of economic growth, a foundation for enhancing quality of life, and a key pillar of Dubai’s readiness for the future,” he said.
