Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, met with Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at his office this week.
The discussions covered a range of workforce priorities, including efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Emirati talent and expand its presence in the labour market.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed the need for an integrated framework, spanning both local and federal levels, to support national talent across sectors and align that contribution with the UAE’s broader development goals.
AI and advanced technologies were a notable part of the agenda. The meeting reviewed how these tools are being deployed to improve government services and better support both employers and employees, as the UAE works toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
Emiratisation featured prominently, with emphasis on Emirati participation in the private sector and creating more specialist career pathways. The meeting also addressed the alignment of higher education curricula with labour market requirements, and calls to expand scientific disciplines to prepare future graduates for the economy ahead.
The meeting was attended by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai; and Major General Awad Hader Al Muhairi, Vice President of Dubai’s State Security Department.
