Formula 1 confirms 24-race calendar for 2027 F1 season

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Formula One Management have announced the 2027 FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar following approval by the World Motor Sport Council.

The season will feature 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries and five continents, while the number of Sprint events will rise from six to 10.

Pre-season testing will take place in Bahrain from 24 to 27 February before the championship begins at the same venue. Saudi Arabia will host the second round.

“The 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar is a strong reflection of the global appeal and continued growth of our sport. With twenty-four Grands Prix across five continents, the return of Portugal and Türkiye, and the opportunity for an expanded Sprint programme, the calendar combines tradition, innovation, and fan engagement while maintaining the highest sporting standards. “I would like to thank Formula One Management, the promoters, the national sporting authorities, the FIA officials and volunteers and all our stakeholders for their collaboration and commitment. The calendar will then move to Australia, Japan and China before the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix.

Portugal and Türkiye return to Formula 1 in 2027

After Monaco, Formula 1 will return to Portugal in June as part of the section of the calendar held in Europe. Türkiye will also return to the championship in October, with its race scheduled between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix.

The later part of the season will include races in Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo and Las Vegas. Qatar and Abu Dhabi will stage the final two rounds.

Formula 1 said the arrangement of events across the season is intended to support its sustainability goals by improving the geographical flow between races.

The 2027 championship will bring together venues and destinations across five continents as Formula 1 continues to expand its audience and its role as a sport and entertainment platform.

Formula 1 increases Sprint events from six to 10

The Sprint programme will expand from six events to 10 in 2027.

Formula 1 said the change follows demand for the format and its performance in previous seasons, providing additional competition for fans, promoters, broadcasters and partners.

Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi will host Sprint events for the first time. The Monaco Sprint weekend will give fans two qualifying sessions as drivers compete on the streets of Monte Carlo.

Sprint events will also return to Montréal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo and Lusail.
