Gargash urges political solution for lasting regional security as UAE confronts Iranian aggression
UAE Presidential Advisor Anwar Gargash pushed back against what he described as media misinterpretation of the UAE’s positions, saying they must be understood in their proper context.
He said the UAE has been subjected to weeks of Iranian attacks targeting its infrastructure and threatening civilian lives, and is confronting them with steadfastness and efficiency, describing the defence of sovereignty as both an honour and a responsibility.
At the same time, Gargash affirmed the UAE’s belief that a political solution is essential to achieving lasting regional security, warning that temporary arrangements risk reproducing instability for decades to come.

Third fire breaks out at Abu Dhabi’s KEZAD as injury toll rises to six
Authorities confirmed a third fire broke out in the vicinity of the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi following debris from an intercepted ballistic missile, bringing the total number of injured to six after a Pakistani national sustained additional injuries.
All three fires have since been brought under control with cooling operations underway. The public was advised to rely only on official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.

Kuwait’s National Guard said its task force shot down six drones over the past 24 hours at sites under its protection, as part of ongoing efforts to secure vital installations.
Spokesperson Brigadier General Dr. Jadaan Fadhel said the National Guard, in coordination with the army, police, and Kuwait Fire Force, remains on high alert and fully prepared to counter any threats to the country’s sovereignty and stability.

Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said its forces shot down a ballistic missile aimed at the Riyadh region, according to a statement from the military’s spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki.

UN establishes task force to secure humanitarian shipping through Strait of Hormuz
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has set up a dedicated task force to address navigation challenges in the Strait of Hormuz and protect the flow of humanitarian goods through the waterway.
The group will be led by the head of the UN Office for Project Services and will include representatives from trade, maritime, and commerce bodies, with room to expand further.
The task force will work on technical mechanisms to keep humanitarian cargo moving, with a particular focus on fertiliser trade and related materials, drawing on lessons from previous UN initiatives including the Black Sea Grain Initiative and the Yemen inspection mechanism.
Work will be carried out in consultation with relevant member states and in accordance with international law.
The Secretary-General has also tasked his personal envoy Jean Arnault with leading political dialogue with relevant parties, supported by the new task force, as part of broader efforts toward a comprehensive resolution to the conflict.
The UN warned that prolonged disruption to the strait – a critical artery for global energy and essential goods – could severely impact food security and agricultural production in the months ahead, with significant humanitarian consequences.
Officials said a successful outcome could build confidence in diplomatic efforts and open the door to wider political solutions in the region.

US President Donald Trump declared that the military operation in Iran is “going GREAT,” while also announcing plans to deliver a major speech on economics in Miami, via a post on Truth Social.

Arab Parliament condemns Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Arab states as violations of international law
Arab Parliament President Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi condemned Iran’s ongoing missile and drone strikes against multiple Arab countries, describing them as a “flagrant violation of all rules of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, and a direct threat to regional security and stability.”
He said the targeting of infrastructure and the resulting casualties demonstrate contempt for international humanitarian law and an intent to destabilise the region.
Al Yamahi held the Iranian regime fully accountable for the attacks and called on the international community to take an immediate and firm stance to halt what he described as Iran’s aggressive policies.
He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for all legitimate measures taken by targeted Arab nations to defend their sovereignty and protect their people.
