Abu Dhabi will host the first edition of the EuroLeague Basketball Super Cup, with four of Europe’s leading clubs set to compete at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on 18 and 19 September 2026. The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi and EuroLeague Basketball made the joint announcement, with two-day ticket packages already on sale through the Etihad Arena website.
The four participating clubs are Olympiacos Piraeus, the reigning EuroLeague champion, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, who won the 2025 title, Real Madrid, runners-up in 2026, and Dubai Basketball Club, representing the UAE.
The format is a four-team final four. On the evening of 18 September, Real Madrid face Dubai Basketball Club at 6pm Abu Dhabi time, followed by Olympiacos against Fenerbahce at 9pm. The third-place match takes place on 19 September at 6pm, with the final at 9pm.
The agreement was brokered by IMG, EuroLeague Basketball’s strategic partner. DCT Abu Dhabi said the tournament builds on the emirate’s previous hosting of EuroLeague Finals and reflects a long-term partnership between the two organisations.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the event marks a new chapter in the emirate’s relationship with EuroLeague Basketball. “Hosting four of the world’s leading clubs in Abu Dhabi to open the new season reinforces the emirate’s position as a global destination for major sporting events and contributes to sustainable value for the visitor economy,” he said.
EuroLeague Basketball President Dejan Bodiroga described the Super Cup as “an exciting new chapter” for European club basketball. Chief Executive Chu Bueño said the tournament reflects the league’s ambition to expand its global reach, calling Abu Dhabi “an opportunity to access a broader new fan base while delivering a high-level sporting event.”
