A Porsche built for Kuwait is making its regional debut in Dubai. The 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition will be displayed at the sixth edition of Icons of Porsche, held on 21 and 22 November at The Square Nad Al Sheba. It is the first time the model has been shown publicly outside Kuwait.
The car was created to mark 70 years of Porsche in Kuwait and was unveiled earlier this year. Production is limited to just 20 examples, all offered exclusively in the Kuwaiti market.
At the centre of the design is Al Sadu, Kuwait’s traditional wool weaving practice, characterised by geometric motifs, narrow horizontal bands and strong visual contrasts.
In 2020, Al Sadu was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The project was developed in collaboration with AlSadu Society, the organisation responsible for preserving and promoting Kuwait’s textile heritage, which provided visual references and cultural context to guide the design process.
Discussions about a Sadu-inspired special edition began at the Porsche Middle East and Africa regional office in January 2022. A year later, the proposal was shared with Porsche Centre Kuwait, and by April 2023 the collaboration was confirmed. An earlier partnership between Porsche Centre Kuwait and AlSadu Society on a Taycan project in 2024 helped lay the groundwork ahead of the 70th anniversary.
The aim throughout was to translate Sadu’s visual language into the precision of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur rather than apply surface decoration. The resulting car carries Sadu-inspired details in contemporary form across the vehicle.
The partnership extends beyond the car itself. Porsche Centre Kuwait and AlSadu Society are developing joint programming that includes traditional Sadu weaving workshops at the dealership and access to cultural experiences connected to Al Sadu House. Visitors to the workshops will learn basic weaving principles, loom structure and the cultural meaning behind Sadu’s patterns.
Since its Kuwait unveiling, the 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition has been presented at several significant sites across the country, including the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre, the historic Behbehani House Complex, Souq Mubarakiyah and Bait Al Arab, Kuwait’s Arabian Horse Centre. Its appearance in Dubai marks its first stop beyond Kuwait’s borders.
