‘The era of courtesies has passed’: Top UAE diplomat Anwar Gargash
UAE Presidential Advisor Anwar Gargash said that “followers should not be surprised” by the UAE’s positions in confronting Iranian aggression, noting that the foreign ministry’s ceasefire statement “received significant popular appreciation.”
He described the aggression as “treacherous and premeditated” and declared that “the era of courtesies has passed, and frankness has become a necessity.”
Gargash called for a collective stance that is “firm and clear toward the features of the upcoming phase, in a way that enhances stability and security in the region.”

Gold holds steady near $4,714 as markets await clarity on US-Iran ceasefire and inflation data
Gold prices were largely unchanged on Thursday as investors remained cautious amid uncertainty over the direction of US-Iran ceasefire negotiations, with a key US inflation report also expected later in the day.
Spot gold held at $4,713.79 per ounce, while US gold futures for June dipped 0.8 per cent to $4,736.50. Silver, platinum, and palladium all edged lower, falling between 0.4 per cent and 0.6 per cent.

Lebanon death toll from Israeli strikes rises to 254 with over 1,100 injured, rescue operations ongoing
Lebanon’s General Directorate of Civil Defence reported that Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas across the country, particularly Beirut, have killed 254 people and injured 1,165.
The Directorate said its teams conducted rescue operations under extremely dangerous and complex conditions, evacuating the injured, recovering the dead, and freeing individuals trapped under rubble.
Specialised teams continue search and rescue efforts at several sites, with authorities warning that the toll is expected to rise as operations progress.

Bahrain International Airport resumes flights gradually after airspace reopens
The Bahrain Airport Company confirmed that flights are gradually resuming at Bahrain International Airport following the reopening of the kingdom’s airspace, as announced by the Civil Aviation Affairs authority.
The company said coordination with partners is ongoing to ensure a smooth and safe return of operations for travellers.

President Donald Trump declared via a post on Truth Social, that all US ships, aircraft, and military personnel will stay positioned in and around Iran, along with additional ammunition and weaponry, until full compliance with the ceasefire agreement is achieved.
He warned that if Iran fails to comply, which he called “highly unlikely,” then the “Shootin’ Starts, bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before.”
Trump reiterated that the agreement requires no nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz “WILL BE OPEN & SAFE.”

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. held phone calls with several foreign ministers following the Iranian missile attacks on the UAE and other nations.
He spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Bolivian Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo.
The discussions focused on regional developments following President Trump’s announcement of a two-week US-Iran ceasefire.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed the need for Iran to fully commit to immediately ceasing all hostilities, unconditionally reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and ending threats to freedom of navigation, international trade, energy security, and the global economy.
He thanked the ministers for their countries’ solidarity with the UAE and affirmed the safety of all residents and visitors in the country. The calls also emphasized the importance of coordinated international efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability across the region.

UAE seeks clarification on US-Iran ceasefire, demands Iran be held accountable for 2,819 missile and drone attacks
The UAE said it is closely monitoring the two-week ceasefire announced by President Trump between the US and Iran, and is seeking further details on the agreement’s terms to ensure Iran fully commits to an immediate halt of all hostilities and the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Iran’s unprovoked attacks over the past 40 days, which included 2,819 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones targeting infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian sites, along with the resulting casualties and damage, require a firm response, including holding Iran fully accountable for reparations.
The Ministry called for a comprehensive approach addressing the full spectrum of Iranian threats, encompassing its nuclear program, ballistic missiles, drones, military capabilities, proxy groups, and threats to freedom of navigation and economic stability in the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE reiterated that it is not a party to the conflict and had pursued extensive diplomatic efforts to prevent the war through bilateral channels and GCC initiatives.
It affirmed that it has firmly defended its sovereignty and national achievements, and called for Iran’s full compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817, adopted on March 11, 2026, which condemned the Iranian attacks and demanded their immediate cessation.
