Q Mobility has switched on a smart parking system at LuLu Hypermarket’s Khalifa Street branch in Al Ain, bringing automated number plate recognition and app-based payments to one of the emirate’s busiest retail sites.

The system uses AI-powered cameras to read vehicle plates on entry and exit, calculate the duration of the stay, and charge the applicable fee directly to the driver’s DARB e-wallet. No ticket machines, no SMS confirmation codes. Shoppers simply drive out.

Payments are processed through the DARB app, which is already used for toll and transport payments across Abu Dhabi. Q Mobility is encouraging users to keep sufficient funds loaded in their wallets before visiting the branch to avoid disruption at the exit.

The Al Ain rollout is described by Q Mobility as a step toward extending the system to more retail and public destinations across the emirate, framing it as part of broader digital transformation efforts in Abu Dhabi.
