AiMed Solutions, the intelligent healthcare platform of Burjeel Holdings, has signed a memorandum of understanding with surgical intelligence company Proximie to develop AI-powered solutions for operating rooms. The agreement was signed at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026.

The MoU formalises a four-stage co-development roadmap built around Burjeel’s ONE OR initiative, which sets out 45 functional requirements for the intelligent operating room. The starting point is the existing rollout of Proximie’s platform across 10 operating rooms at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi.

The first stage will give surgical teams real-time visibility into how each room is performing during the day, with alerts for upcoming steps and AI-supported clinical documentation accessible on shared screens and mobile devices.

Stage two adds agentic AI, workflow monitoring, surgical safety checklists and bed management. The third stage extends surgical intelligence to endoscopy, cardiac catheterisation labs and interventional radiology, alongside improvements to patient journey coordination and family communication. Stage four focuses on surgical instrument tracking and advanced clinical, operational and financial performance indicators.

Proximie’s platform is currently deployed across more than 700 operating rooms globally. It draws on ambient sensors, medical devices and electronic medical records to give teams a real-time picture of the operating room, with AI models that anticipate delays and recommend next steps across the perioperative journey.

AiMed Solutions brings experience from deploying over two dozen AI applications across clinical care and operations within Burjeel’s broader ecosystem.

“By bringing clinical expertise directly into the development process, we want to create intelligent solutions that are practical, scalable, and capable of setting new standards for surgical care,” Safeer Ahamed, Group Head of Shared Services at Burjeel Holdings said in a statement.

“The best surgical care depends on every team knowing what is happening in the operating room and what needs to happen next. Proximie’s surgical intelligence platform gives them that, predicting how the day will run and recommending the right next step,” Dr. Nadine Hachach-Haram, Founder and CEO of Proximie added.
