Dubai Police attended the opening of Al Rigga Night Market in Deira, using the occasion to run community safety sessions for an audience of approximately 5,000 Filipino residents.
The participation was coordinated by Dubai Police’s Positive Spirit Council alongside Al Muraqqabat Police Station and a number of strategic partners. The choice of venue was deliberate: popular gathering points give police direct access to large numbers of residents in an informal setting.
With October marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a significant portion of the activity focused on digital safety. Officers walked community members through common cybercrime methods, including phishing messages, fraudulent links and identity impersonation via social media and mobile apps. Attendees were advised on protecting personal information and bank account details, identifying suspicious communications and avoiding sharing passwords or verification codes. The sessions also directed residents to official reporting channels for cybercrime and online fraud.
Road safety and personal security featured alongside the digital awareness content. Officers emphasised the risks of jaywalking and the importance of following traffic regulations, and outlined how residents can access Dubai Police’s smart services and communicate with the force through official channels.
Fatima Ahmad Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police, said the event reflected the force’s commitment to building closer relationships with residents of different nationalities. Reaching people at popular gathering places creates valuable opportunities to deliver practical awareness messages and reinforce the principle that maintaining community safety is a shared responsibility, she said.
