Al-Futtaim Toyota has launched the Land Cruiser FJ in the UAE, adding a more compact entry point to a lineup that already includes the Land Cruiser 300, 70 Series, and Prado.

The FJ is available in two grades, EXR and GXR, and is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.7-litre petrol engine producing 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system.

At 4,610 mm long and 1,855 mm wide, it sits on a 2,580 mm wheelbase, which is 270 mm shorter than the Prado. That reduction brings the minimum turning radius down to 5.5 metres, making it more manageable in urban traffic and on tighter trails.

Despite the smaller footprint, Toyota says the FJ retains geometry comparable to the 70 Series for wheel articulation, with approach and departure angles, ground clearance, and an electric rear differential lock all engineered for genuine off-road use. Downhill Assist Control and Hill Start Assist Control are also included.

“At Al-Futtaim, our mission is always to deliver vehicles to our customers that enhance their lives and offer the opportunity to do more, see more and achieve more each and every day. That is why we are absolutely thrilled to bring to our customers in the UAE a vehicle that is specifically built to support the lives of a diverse range of customers by returning to the original idea of ‘FJ40 = CORE,’ while inspiring people to enjoy life even more. The Land Cruiser FJ represents a ‘Core’ Land Cruiser that provides freedom and joy for people from all walks of life. By providing drivers with solid Land Cruiser off-road performance in a more accessible package, this model gives more of our customers than ever the freedom to go wherever they want, whatever their lifestyle, together with the joy of using the vehicle in their own way. By focusing on a functional design that is within reach of more people, the vehicle becomes a canvas through which customers can express themselves,” Jacques Brent, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota said in a statement.

Inside, the five-seat cabin offers 765 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place, rising to 1,522 litres when folded flat. A 12.3-inch display audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay is standard across both grades. The GXR grade adds Toyota Safety Sense 3, a Panoramic View Monitor, and a Blind Spot Monitor. Wheel sizes differ by grade: 17-inch alloy on the EXR, 18-inch on the GXR.

The Land Cruiser nameplate has accumulated cumulative sales of around 12.4 million units across more than 190 countries since the original BJ was introduced in 1951.
