ADNOC Gas has signed a five-year supply agreement with TotalEnergies covering up to 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas, the Abu Dhabi-based company announced on Tuesday.
The deal extends a long-running commercial relationship between the two energy groups. Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, said the agreement “reflects the strength of our LNG business, the competitiveness of our supply offering and our ability to secure long-term partnerships that support growth, enhance resilience and create lasting value for shareholders.”
From TotalEnergies’ side, the attraction is geographic. Stéphane Michel, President Gas, Renewables and Power at TotalEnergies, said Abu Dhabi’s position between Europe and Asia made the new supply strategically valuable: “This new supply will enable TotalEnergies to confirm its position as one of the main LNG portfolio suppliers.”
The agreement arrives as ADNOC is building out a new integrated LNG marketing and trading platform that combines the LNG activities of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading operations of ADNOC Trading. The platform is targeting 47 million tonnes per annum of marketable LNG beyond 2030, which would rank it among the world’s largest LNG marketing organisations.
ADNOC Gas is also expecting a future production boost from Ruwais LNG, a project the company says will substantially increase its LNG capacity once integrated. Together, the new trading platform and expanded production are central to Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become a global energy trading hub.
