The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have announced a partnership that will allow fan-created content to appear directly inside the Disney+ app, marking a formal bridge between social video and subscription streaming.
The agreement, which will pilot in the US before expanding to other markets, introduces a feature called Verts on Disney+. Short-form videos made by participating TikTok creators who opt into the programme will live simultaneously on TikTok and within Disney+.
The content will draw on characters and stories from across Disney’s brands, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and others. Disney says creators will gain access to assets tied to hundreds of films and series from its library.
The content library will be refreshed regularly, with both companies framing the arrangement as a way to deepen subscriber engagement rather than simply cross-promote.
A joint Disney Creator Ambassador Program sits at the centre of the deal. The tiered programme promises rewards, invitations to exclusive events, increased platform visibility, and what the companies describe as career development pathways for top-performing creators.
“The best storytellers are fans first. That has always been true at Disney, and today, fans are celebrating our stories in entirely new ways. This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day,” Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, The Walt Disney Company said in a statement.
“Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share. Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+, inviting audiences to experience the shared creativity that makes fandom so powerful,” Dawn Yang, Global Head of Entertainment, TikTok added.
The companies cited internal TikTok data showing fans shared an average of 6.5 million film and TV-related posts on TikTok each day last year. They also noted that nearly half of surveyed viewers said they went on to watch a movie or TV show on a streaming service after first discovering it through TikTok content.
