Jared Leto has issued a categorical denial of sexual misconduct allegations made against him in a BBC documentary, calling the claims “absolutely and categorically false.”
The film, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, features ten women describing encounters with the Oscar-winning actor between 2002 and 2016. Four of the women made allegations that could constitute criminal offences in the US or UK.
In a statement issued through his publicist, Leto said: “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
The documentary follows earlier coverage of the allegations. Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz posted on Instagram last year saying she had been assaulted by Leto when she was 17.
The post drew further accounts from other women, which led to a report in Air Mail in which nine women accused Leto of inappropriate conduct. At the time, his representative “expressly denied” the accusations, describing Teilz’s claim as “demonstrably false.”
Leto, who is repped by WME, most recently appeared in Masters of the Universe as Skeletor. He has a forthcoming role in Lunik Heist, a Soviet spacecraft story being produced by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures.
