The UAE’s Essential Goods Prices Platform, launched by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in April, now tracks pricing data for 8,343 products across 525 outlets operated by 13 major retailers, the ministry said.

Since its mid-April launch through July 2026, the platform has attracted approximately 143,720 visitors, averaging more than 1,451 daily visits. The ministry uses it to run periodic analyses of price movements across retail outlets, feeding those findings into oversight and regulatory decisions.

Safeya Al Safi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Control and Commercial Governance Sector, said the platform has shifted market monitoring from reactive inspections toward continuous, data-led surveillance. “It enables continuous monitoring of market developments, analysis of emerging trends, and identification of patterns or changes that require further review and verification. The platform has also enhanced the Ministry’s ability to respond efficiently to any developments or changes affecting market dynamics,” she said in a statement.

Al Safi added that retail outlets across the country are maintaining sufficient supply of goods to meet consumer demand, and that the ministry is using platform data to refine the consumer protection framework and support more informed purchasing decisions.

The ministry plans to expand the platform in its next phase, adding more products and retail participants. The move is part of a broader push to accelerate digital transformation in consumer protection and market oversight, and to build a more transparent pricing environment for UAE consumers.
