Steven Spielberg returns to science fiction with Disclosure Day, an original film opening across cinemas in the region on 10 June. Universal Pictures is releasing the project, which Spielberg created and directed from a screenplay by David Koepp.
The cast brings together Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. The film’s premise centres on first contact – or more precisely, what happens when proof of extraterrestrial life becomes public knowledge.
Koepp and Spielberg have a long-established working relationship. Koepp wrote the scripts for Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a body of work that collectively earned more than $3 billion at the worldwide box office. He also wrote this year’s Jurassic World Rebirth.
Disclosure Day is produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger and Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. Adam Somner and Chris Brigham serve as executive producers.
Spielberg’s directing credits include Jaws, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones franchise, Schindler’s List, and Saving Private Ryan. He has won three Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Picture for Schindler’s List and Best Director for Saving Private Ryan.
