Filipino citizens holding a valid visa, residence permit, or green card issued by the United States, European Union member states, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Canada, or New Zealand are now eligible for visa-on-arrival entry to the UAE, effective June 25.

The Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs announced the arrangement, attributing it to “the excellent bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UAE.”

Eligible travellers have two options. A 14-day entry costs AED 100 and can be extended once for an additional 14 days at AED 25. A non-extendable 60-day stay is available for AED 250.

The announcement followed a meeting between Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro and UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Salem Alqataam Alzaabi, where the two discussed economic diplomacy and expanding people-to-people ties.

The UAE is home to one of the largest concentrations of overseas Filipino workers in the world, and any change to entry arrangements is likely to affect both labour mobility and family visits across the corridor.
