The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has issued a warning urging consumers to stop using 220 ml glass drinking cups manufactured under the Flying Tiger brand.
The products, sold by the retail brand known for selling a range of household and lifestyle products, were sold during 2024 and 2025.
Findings indicate that the external print on the cups – identified by product numbers detailed in the ministry’s official notice – contains levels of lead and cadmium that exceed what is considered acceptable.

The ministry has called on consumers to “immediately stop using” the cups and to “dispose of the product immediately.” The guidance applies to anyone in possession of the Flying Tiger 220 ml glass cups covered by the specified product numbers.
Consumers are advised not to delay in removing the product from use and to follow the disposal guidance issued alongside the ministry’s notice.
Lead and cadmium are classified as heavy metals and are associated with potential health complications. Their presence in the external print of a drinking vessel is a cause for concern, as contact during handling may result in exposure over time. The ministry has described the elevated levels found as posing “potential health risks” to consumers.
In its statement, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism said the measure reflects its “continued efforts to monitor markets and take the necessary measures to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.”
Consumers seeking clarification on the product numbers covered by the warning are advised to refer to the ministry’s official notice.
