Three players are tied at the top of the World Cup 2026 golden boot standings after five days of play, each with two goals before the first round of group-stage fixtures is complete.
Germany’s Kai Havertz, the Arsenal forward, scored both his goals in a 7-1 demolition of Curaçao in Group E, giving his side a commanding start to the tournament.
Florian Balogun, the Monaco striker who represents the United States, also found the net twice, both against Paraguay in America’s opening match.
Sweden’s Yassin Ayari, who plays for Brighton in the Premier League, rounded out the trio with a brace against Tunisia in a 5-1 victory, earning his place alongside the other two at the top of the charts.
The 2026 World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
