UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains on Monday, with the two leaders using the meeting to assess the state of their countries’ strategic partnership and identify new areas for cooperation.
Discussions covered investment, technology, artificial intelligence, energy, and culture. The two presidents also exchanged views on regional developments, with the situation in the Middle East taking a prominent place in the conversation.
Sheikh Mohamed thanked Macron for the invitation to attend the summit and for the welcome extended to the UAE delegation. He expressed hope that France’s presidency of the G7 meetings would produce outcomes that support global prosperity and development.
The UAE was present at the summit in an outreach capacity, continuing a pattern of Gulf states engaging with G7 gatherings as the economic and diplomatic ties between the two blocs have deepened in recent years.
