Ocean Basket has opened a new restaurant at Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai, extending a presence in the emirate that now spans more than a decade. The opening follows the chain’s arrival in Abu Dhabi and forms part of a broader push to reach more communities across the UAE.
The brand operates over 200 restaurants across 18 countries, including the UK, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait. The Ibn Battuta location carries that global footprint forward while keeping the sharing-focused format that built its Dubai following.
Sourcing is central to the menu. Prawns come from Ecuador, hake from Southern Africa, mussels from Chile, calamari from the Falkland Islands, lobster from Brazil, oysters from Fin de Claire in France, and cod from the Russian Atlantic.
The kitchen applies a light hand to each, leaning on olive oil, lemon, garlic, and the brand’s own lemon butter and garlic sauce to frame rather than overshadow the seafood. Sharing platters are the main event.
The interior takes its cues from the coast: deep blue walls, warm timber finishes, curved booth seating, illuminated arches, and pendant lights alongside aquatic-inspired artwork.
“Some of the best meals are the ones where everyone orders something different and ends up sharing everything. That generosity has always been part of Ocean Basket. Our new Ibn Battuta Mall restaurant brings it to life in a setting where guests can feel comfortable, enjoy their favourite seafood and make an occasion of being together,” Grace Harding, CEO said in a statement.
“For us, growing in Dubai means becoming part of more communities and giving guests more opportunities to enjoy Ocean Basket close to home. Ibn Battuta Mall is an exciting next step in that journey. We look forward to welcoming our regular guests at this new address and introducing the brand to those joining us for the first time,” Yuriy Khussainov, Managing Director UAE & CIS added.
