The Museum of the Future will close its doors on Tuesday as it prepares for a complete transformation, with a new generation of interactive and immersive experiences slated to open in the first quarter of 2027.
The museum has been reminding visitors via its website and Instagram to experience the current version before it shuts. Once closed, the existing galleries will be cleared to make way for fresh content addressing what the institution describes as the next wave of emerging trends.
No details on the new exhibits have been released, but the museum has indicated the refreshed experience will draw on ideas submitted by members of the public worldwide, following an earlier global call for input on the institution’s next chapter.
Unlike traditional museums built around permanent collections, the Museum of the Future has always operated as a living institution, designed to be periodically reinvented in step with developments in technology, science and global innovation. The closure is consistent with that model.
Since opening, the venue has become one of Dubai’s most visited landmarks, drawing visitors to exhibitions spanning artificial intelligence, space exploration, climate change, health and sustainability.
These themes sit closely alongside the UAE’s broader innovation agenda, and the building itself ranks among the most photographed structures in the city.
The reopening, expected in Q1 2027, will arrive as Dubai continues to position itself as a global hub for tourism and future-facing investment.
