France have qualified for the round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after beating Iraq 3–0 in a Group 9 fixture interrupted by a thunderstorm that halted play for over an hour at half-time.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute, then doubled France’s lead nine minutes into the second half. Ousmane Dembélé completed the win in the 66th minute.
The result moves France to six points and the top of Group 9. Iraq remain bottom with no points from their opening fixtures.
