Dubai Police have charged 18 suspects and confiscated 17 tankers following an enforcement drive against illegal disposal of harmful materials, including sewage and petrochemical waste, in the first half of 2026.
The operation was led by the Environmental Crimes Section within the General Department of Criminal Investigation’s Economic Crimes Department, working alongside Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority. Authorities said the cases were uncovered through joint field coordination and intelligence sharing between the agencies involved.
Investigators found the suspects had violated legal requirements governing how and where harmful materials must be disposed of. All 17 tankers used in the violations were seized as part of the legal proceedings.
Dubai Police said sewage and petrochemical waste must be disposed of exclusively at designated sites and in line with approved procedures.
The force added that detecting violations quickly depends on close cooperation between relevant authorities, and that businesses and individuals operating in the sector are expected to comply with approved regulations.
