Dubai Police has unveiled the second generation of its Ghiath smart patrol vehicle, developed in partnership with Al-Futtaim, the exclusive distributor of BYD in the UAE. The announcement was accompanied by a memorandum of understanding signed between the two organisations at the launch ceremony.

The new patrol is built on the BYD plug-in hybrid Denza B8 and is designed to combine security technology with fuel efficiency. Dubai Police says the vehicles are intended to improve response times and support field operations as the force modernises its fleet.

The MOU was signed by Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei on behalf of Dubai Police and Yousuf AlRaeesi, Director of Government Affairs at Al-Futtaim.

The ceremony was attended by Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri and BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li, alongside Al-Futtaim CEO Omar Al Futtaim and senior officers from both organisations.

Lieutenant General Al Marri said the partnership “reflects our commitment to harnessing innovation to develop sustainable security solutions that support Dubai’s future vision and contribute to building a smarter, more efficient and more sustainable security transport ecosystem.”

The Ghiath programme, first launched as a flagship smart policing initiative, integrates artificial intelligence and connected systems into patrol vehicles. The second generation extends that brief to include hybrid powertrains, which Dubai Police has framed as part of a broader shift toward sustainability in its operations.

AlRaeesi said Al-Futtaim intends to continue supporting the development of Dubai Police’s fleet and operational capabilities, and that the collaboration contributes to the UAE’s reputation for safety and security.
