Dubai Police has recorded a 28 per cent reduction in traffic accidents involving police vehicles, the force announced during a ceremony marking the eighth edition of its “Safe Driving Stars” initiative.
The ceremony, held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, was organised by the Insurance Department at the General Department of Transport and Rescue, in cooperation with Juma Al Majid Company and Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company.
It was attended by Major General Hareb Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Affairs, alongside assistant commanders in chief, directors of general departments and police stations, officers, employees, and the initiative’s partners.

Brigadier Samira Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Insurance Department at the General Department of Transport and Rescue, said the initiative reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to recognising employees and promoting a culture of responsibility and discipline.
The ceremony was the result of a long journey of work inspired by the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, adding that every detail was designed to send one message to the honourees: “You deserve this recognition and more.”
The reduction was attributed to awareness programmes, training for drivers, and the use of technologies to enhance patrol deployment, emergency response, and fleet readiness.
Major General Al Shamsi, accompanied by Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander in Chief for Operations Affairs, Major General Rashid Al Falasi, Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue, Brigadier Nabil Abdullah Al Redha, Deputy Director of the department, and Brigadier Samira Al Ali, honoured 94 drivers from across police sectors.
The honourees were distributed across five categories: 11 in the Bronze Category, 11 in the Silver Category, 24 in the Gold Category, 24 in the Platinum Category, and 24 in the Diamond Category.
At the departmental level, the General Department of Transport and Rescue received the Gold Category Shield, the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency won Silver, and the General Department of Anti-Narcotics secured Bronze.
At police station level, Group A honours went to Al Raffa Police Station (Gold), Jebel Ali Police Station (Silver), and Al Rashidiya Police Station (Bronze). In Group B, Al Faqa’a Police Station won Gold, Hatta Police Station won Silver, and Lahbab Police Station took Bronze.
The ceremony also recognised three Dubai Police employees under the “Our Fleet is Our Responsibility” category, which focuses on field inspections and assessing the readiness of the force’s fleet.
Major General Al Shamsi also honoured the most active users of the “iServe” smart car sharing service, which allows Dubai Police employees to operate shared vehicles through a mobile application. The initiative’s partners, Juma Al Majid Genesis and Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company, were also recognised.
Suliman Al Zaben, Director of Hyundai – UAE, praised Dubai Police’s efforts in promoting road safety awareness. “Supporting the ‘Safe Driving Stars’ initiative reflects a shared commitment to safety, innovation, sustainability, and community wellbeing,” he said.
In his closing remarks, Major General Al Shamsi praised the drivers’ commitment to traffic laws and road safety. He said the “Safe Driving Stars” initiative contributes to reducing traffic accidents and reflects Dubai Police’s intention to honour employees, support excellence, and strengthen institutional leadership.
