Amazon has launched the Amazon Youth Council in partnership with the UAE’s Federal Youth Authority, bringing together young Emirati professionals from across the company and AWS in the country. The announcement was made on International Youth Day.
The council is designed to run skills workshops, mentorship programmes, and knowledge-sharing events, connecting participants with what Amazon describes as its global innovation network. It will also lead community volunteering initiatives and internal cultural programmes aimed at giving Amazon employees broader exposure to Emirati identity and customs.
“At Amazon, we believe in the power of continuous learning and curiosity to unlock potential, and the Amazon Youth Council brings that spirit to the next generation of Emirati talent. The Amazon Youth Council reflects our commitment to empowering Emirati youth through learning, innovation, and meaningful career development opportunities, while celebrating the culture and values that make the UAE unique. Together with the Federal Youth Authority, we look forward to creating lasting impact for the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers,” Ronaldo Mouchawar, VP Amazon Middle East, Africa and Turkey said in a statement.
Jassim Al Obaidli, Director of the Youth Interaction Department and Head of the Youth Councils Network at the Federal Youth Authority, said the initiative showed what public-private collaboration could deliver. “By combining Amazon’s global expertise with our shared commitment to youth empowerment, we are equipping Emirati youth with the skills, experiences and confidence they need to shape the future,” he said.
The council has already moved quickly since forming a few weeks ago. A Youth Day event at Amazon’s Dubai office brought Emirati entrepreneurs and homegrown brands onto the company’s premises, where hundreds of employees participated in an entrepreneur showcase, a Shark Tank-style business competition, and booths covering AI, sustainability, wellness, and traditional Emirati food.
