The Education, Human Resources, and Community Development Council has announced that education institutions in the UAE are ready for a return to in-person learning on a gradual basis.
The council outlined measures to support the continuity of the education system and to ensure the safety of students, their families, and all education and administrative staff.
Nurseries located in government premises and commercial buildings will be the first to reopen. Other nurseries will be allowed to provide home-based childcare services in accordance with regulations and procedures that have been approved.
Updates on whether in-person or remote learning will resume across education institutions will be announced on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. The announcement will be made through the official channels of the Ministry of Education and the relevant higher education authorities.
The council said the announcement would ensure “clarity and accuracy of information for families and the wider educational community.”
The council confirmed it is launching programmes to prepare education facilities and train staff across nurseries, schools, and higher education institutions. The programmes are being carried out in accordance with decisions taken by the relevant authorities.
The relevant ministries and local education authorities are conducting field evaluation visits to education institutions to ensure that they are ready.
The council said it has developed guidance to ensure readiness for transitions between learning modes when required. The guidance is designed to ensure the continuity of the education system through mechanisms that adapt to developments as they evolve.
The announcement was issued by the UAE Government Media Office.
