Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will hold its 121st Open Auction on October 24, 2026 at the Hilton Al Habtoor City Hotel, offering 60 distinctive vehicle plate numbers across 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-digit formats.

Plates from the codes AA, BB, CC, H, U, V, W, X, Y and Z will go under the hammer. The auction’s headline lots include the 2-digit plates BB 80, BB 18 and CC 44, which the RTA describes as among the rarest available.

Registration opens on October 18 through the RTA website or at Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha.

Bidders must hold a traffic file in Dubai and submit a security deposit cheque of AED 25,000, which is refundable if they leave without winning a plate. A non-refundable participation fee of AED 120 is also required. Doors open at 2:00 pm on the day.

Successful bidders have 10 working days to settle payment. Failure to do so results in forfeiture of the deposit and placement on a non-compliant bidders list. All sales carry a 5 per cent VAT charge. There is no cap on how many plates a single participant may acquire, subject to the auction’s terms and conditions.

The RTA frames the auctions as part of its broader effort to serve a market where plate numbers have taken on value well beyond their administrative function, drawing collectors and investors alongside individual buyers.
