Kuwaiti travellers are showing stronger interest in a broader set of summer destinations this August, according to search data from Wego, the MENA-focused online travel marketplace.

Tunisia leads the emerging destinations by growth, with searches up 54 per cent compared to the same period last year. Sri Lanka follows at 30 per cent, while Spain is up 19 per cent, driven by a 73 per cent rise in interest in Madrid and a 14 per cent increase for Malaga.

“Kuwaiti travellers are showing an increasing interest in exploring destinations beyond the traditional summer favourites. Our latest search trends reflect a growing willingness to discover new places that combine accessibility, value, and memorable travel experiences. While established destinations continue to perform strongly, we’re seeing travellers diversify their choices and seek destinations that offer something different, whether through unique landscapes, cultural experiences, or seasonal appeal,” Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego said in a statement.

Egypt, Türkiye, Thailand, and the United Kingdom remain the most-searched destinations overall, maintaining their appeal among families and leisure travellers. But the trend lines suggest the mix is shifting.

Wego’s data points to value and accessibility as the main factors pulling travellers toward newer options. The average booking window for August departures sits at around 31 days, with search demand concentrated in the first two weeks of the month.
