Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs greeted returning Hajj pilgrims at Dubai Airports this week with a special passport stamp carrying the message “The UAE Welcomes the Return of Pilgrims,” part of a reception initiative designed to mark the occasion beyond routine border processing.
Alongside the stamp, GDRFA teams and a group of children met arriving pilgrims with flowers and commemorative gifts at the gate. The airports also operated dedicated lanes and fast-track entry procedures, coordinated with aviation and border partners, to ease the flow of returning travellers.
Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shangiti, Assistant Director General for Air Ports Affairs at GDRFA Dubai, said the initiative reflected the authority’s broader approach to border services.
“The return of pilgrims to their homeland is an occasion that carries profound Spirituality and humanitarian meanings. At GDRFA Dubai, we were keen for their reception to embody the UAE’s authentic values of hospitality and appreciation, while also reflecting Dubai’s image as a global city that delivers its services with a human-centered approach and the highest standards of professionalism,” he said in a statement.
GDRFA said the initiative is part of its continuing effort to align border operations with national and religious occasions, treating entry procedures as part of the overall travel experience rather than a purely administrative function.
