Emirates has completed the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi on its first Airbus A380, marking what the airline describes as a step-change in in-flight connectivity that will be available at no charge to passengers across every cabin.
The aircraft returned to Dubai this week following installation and certification carried out in Newquay, United Kingdom.
The configuration uses three Starlink antennas per aircraft and is capable of delivering more than 2 Gbps of total bandwidth – a figure the airline says represents an improvement of one thousand times over the first-generation systems it introduced, which offered less than 1 Mbps across the entire aircraft.

The A380’s two-deck layout presented specific engineering requirements that led to what Emirates has described as an industry-first Starlink configuration.
The setup includes additional wireless access points compared with the Boeing 777 installation, along with a third antenna designed to serve the aircraft’s higher passenger capacity. Inter-deck integration has been optimised to support connectivity across both levels of the cabin.
Emirates said the service will allow passengers to stream, game, browse and work on personal devices throughout their journey. Future updates will bring Live TV streaming via Starlink, initially to personal devices and later to seatback screens.
Further installations are set to begin at Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai, with the airline committing to an accelerated schedule throughout 2026.
Twenty-five Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are already operating with Starlink, and the airline said more than 650,000 of its customers have flown on Starlink-equipped flights to date.
The Starlink programme forms part of a broader set of investments Emirates has made across its fleet and operations. To date, 93 aircraft have undergone full refurbishment under what the airline describes as one of the most extensive retrofit programmes in aviation history.
Work on each aircraft has included the installation of Premium Economy cabins, an upgraded Business Class, refreshed First Class suites, and improvements to Economy Class interiors. Inflight entertainment systems on refurbished aircraft offer more than 6,500 channels.
In mid-2025, Emirates opened what it called the “Centre of Hospitality Excellence,” a facility representing an investment of US$8 million, designed to train its 25,000-strong cabin crew workforce. The centre focuses on both the practical and interpersonal dimensions of service delivery on board.
Emirates has not announced specific dates for individual routes to receive the new service, but said customers would begin to see Starlink-equipped A380s in service as the programme gathers pace through the year.
