Wizz Air, the budget airline that shut down its Abu Dhabi-based subsidiary last year, is set to return to the UAE with flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi as part of a wider restoration of its Middle East network.
The airline announced that Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah and Amman are returning to its network ahead of the winter travel season, with services to the UAE scheduled to restart from October 25, 2026.
Wizz Air plans to progressively restore 12 routes and operate 49 weekly flights connecting nine European cities with destinations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The return comes just over a year after Wizz Air ended the operations of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. The carrier ceased locally based flights from the capital on September 1, 2025, citing operational challenges, engine reliability issues in the region’s hot climate and geopolitical developments as it shifted its focus back towards its core European markets.
Unlike its previous operation, the renewed UAE services will be flown from Wizz Air’s European bases rather than through a locally based Abu Dhabi airline.
