President Sheikh Mohamed received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Abu Dhabi on Thursday for discussions on regional security and bilateral ties, the state news agency Wam reported.

El Sisi, visiting the UAE on a fraternal visit, condemned Iran’s recent attacks on the Emirates and expressed solidarity with the country as it takes steps to protect its territory and citizens, according to Wam.

The two leaders exchanged views on regional developments and their implications for security and stability, both regionally and internationally.

They also discussed areas of cooperation that support shared development priorities and contribute to prosperity for both peoples, Wam said.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon, Adviser to the UAE President.

Egypt’s delegation included Dr Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, and other officials.

Earlier on Thursday, Sheikh Mohamed and El Sisi visited the Egyptian fighter jet unit stationed in the UAE. That visit included Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, and senior Ministry of Defence officers.
