According to Ebrahim Azizi, Head of the National Security Commission of the Iranian parliament, the Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran’s full administration and sovereignty regardless of any future agreement.
Azizi said decisions regarding transit routes, shipping schedules, and maritime permits are sovereign matters that rest exclusively with authorities in Tehran.
UAE Presidential Adviser Anwar Gargash said countries across the Gulf, Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq are paying the price for Iran’s expansive regional ambitions.
He argued that no state should pursue influence at the expense of collective security, stability, and prosperity, and said a regional reassessment is necessary based on respect for sovereignty, good-neighborly relations, and non-interference in the affairs of others.
According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), U.S. forces intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles that were launched toward American forces stationed in Kuwait at around 11 p.m. ET. CENTCOM said the missiles were successfully defeated, no U.S. personnel were harmed, and American forces remain prepared to defend against Iranian threats while supporting the ongoing ceasefire.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that the ceasefire between Iran and the US covers all fronts, including Lebanon, and warned that any violation in one theater constitutes a breach of the entire agreement. He held the US and Israel jointly responsible for the consequences of any such violation.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu offered a slightly different account of his call with Trump, saying he told the president that Israel would strike terror targets in Beirut if Hezbollah did not stop attacking Israeli cities and civilians.
He emphasised that Israel’s position is unchanged, and that the IDF will continue its planned operations in southern Lebanon regardless.
President Trump says he personally persuaded Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to call off a major military raid on Beirut, with Netanyahu complying and turning his troops around.
Trump also said he spoke directly with Hezbollah representatives, securing a mutual agreement with Israel to stop shooting at each other. He expressed cautious hope that the ceasefire would hold permanently.
