France have secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, defeating Morocco 2-0 in a quarter-final that the Atlas Lions made considerably harder than the scoreline suggests.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring before Ousmane Dembélé added the second to settle the tie and send France through to the last four.
Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was the standout performer of the evening, saving a penalty in the first half and keeping his side in the contest for long stretches. France ultimately proved clinical enough to convert their opportunities into a clean sheet win.
It is the second time in four years the two sides have met at this stage of a World Cup. Morocco, who reached the semi-finals of the 2022 tournament in Qatar, again fell short at the quarter-final mark, though their campaign drew widespread respect. France, the defending champions, continue their bid to retain the title.
