Etihad Airways has launched daily A380 service between Abu Dhabi and Tokyo Narita, with the inaugural flight arriving on June 18. The route marks the first time the carrier has deployed the double-decker aircraft on its Japan operations and returns the airline’s eighth A380 to active service.

The aircraft operates on a fixed daily schedule: EY800 departs Abu Dhabi at 21:25, arriving Tokyo at 12:45 the following day; EY801 departs Tokyo at 18:00 and lands in Abu Dhabi at 00:20 the following morning.

The A380 configuration spans four cabins. Economy holds 415 seats fitted with Etihad’s fixed-wing headrests. Business accommodates 70 guests in private studios on the upper deck, alongside The Lobby, a bar and lounge area between the premium cabins. First class offers nine private suites with an 80-inch lie-flat bed and access to an onboard shower. The Residence, a three-room suite with a separate living room, bedroom, and ensuite bathroom, is now available on the Tokyo route for the first time.

“Tokyo has long held a special place in the hearts of our guests, and today, we are proud to meet that affection with a truly extraordinary aircraft. The introduction of the A380 reinforces our commitment to the Japanese market, responding to robust demand for premium travel connecting Abu Dhabi and Tokyo. With this route, we are returning our eighth A380 to the fleet, further expanding our operation and premium offering. Whether flying in Economy, Business, First, or The Residence, we promise an elevated, unforgettable journey for our guests,” Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Etihad Airways said in a statement.

Passengers connecting beyond Tokyo or Abu Dhabi can access Etihad’s wider network. The airline’s Abu Dhabi Stopover programme offers qualifying transit passengers a complimentary hotel stay between connections.
