Careem has partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme to let UAE customers donate food boxes to families in Gaza through its Quik grocery service, with the campaign running until October 31, 2026.

The initiative, called Groceries for Gaza, offers four donation tiers starting at AED 92. Each option covers the cost of a WFP food box built around staples: fortified wheat flour, pasta, lentils, beans, chickpeas, tomato paste, vegetable oil, salt and halva.

The tiers correspond to boxes that feed a family of five for three to four days (AED 92), one week (AED 184), two weeks (AED 367) or one month (AED 734). The largest box contains more than 47 kg of food, including 25 kg of flour. Careem passes every donation directly to WFP, which sources and delivers the food.

The backdrop is severe. According to WFP, 1.4 million people in Gaza, roughly two in every three, currently face crisis or worse levels of acute food insecurity. Eighty percent of the population is out of work. Most families have been displaced multiple times and lack reliable access to clean water or sanitation.

WFP currently reaches around 1.5 million people in Gaza each month through food parcels, bread, hot meals, and nutrition services. Without sustained support, the organisation warns, up to 90 percent of the population could face high levels of acute food insecurity by the end of the year.

“Our purpose is to improve people’s lives, and that doesn’t stop at our borders. Many families in Gaza still don’t know where their next meal will come from. We won’t look away, and neither will our community. Through Seeds for Gaza, our customers and partners raised more than AED 3 million. With Groceries for Gaza, we’re making it simple for them to help again, every time they shop,” Mudassir Sheikha, Co-founder and CEO of Careem said in a statement.

“The progress made in recent months is fragile. Without steady support, families in Gaza could slip back into hunger. Partners like Careem help us keep food reaching the families who need it most, and give people in the UAE a simple way to help. Every donation makes a real difference,” Bashar Al Hammami, Head of WFP Global Office in the UAE added.

To donate, customers open the Careem app, tap Quik, select the Groceries for Gaza banner, choose a box and add it to their basket at checkout.
