Al-Futtaim Toyota has introduced the bZ4X Touring to the UAE market, marking the first battery electric vehicle Toyota has launched in the country.
The crossover SUV is positioned as an everyday capable EV with genuine off-road credentials, targeting drivers who want electric mobility without trading away utility.
“The UAE’s New Energy Vehicle market is undergoing rapid change, and so too are customer preferences, and for Al-Futtaim Toyota the most important thing for us is to empathise with our customers’ opinions on BEVs. Toyota has earned the trust of generations of drivers by making vehicles they can rely on every day, and that same principle applies as we expand our electric range. The bZ4X Touring gives our customers a practical way to embrace electric driving, with the confidence that the qualities they have always valued in a Toyota remain firmly in place. This is not the type of vehicle where our work is done once we have made the sale. As promising decarbonisation options expand, we will work with our customers to improve upon our product offering and provide a greater choice of mobility options to support a diverse range of lifestyles,” Jacques Brent, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota said in a statement.
The car sits on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform, developed jointly with Subaru and designed from the ground up for BEVs. A dual-motor 4WD setup produces a combined 375 hp, with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery enabling a claimed range of up to 480 km.
The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds. Silicon carbide semiconductors in the eAxles reduce energy loss, which Toyota says contributes to a quieter and more efficient drive than comparable petrol-powered vehicles.
Off-road capability comes via Subaru’s X-MODE system, which offers three selectable sub-modes to manage traction on loose, muddy, or uneven terrain. Downhill Assist Control handles speed regulation on descents. For everyday urban use, ECO and NORMAL drive modes moderate performance and range accordingly.
Inside, the bZ4X Touring has a 14-inch central display integrating navigation, climate control, and audio, alongside wireless charging for two devices and a nine-speaker JBL sound system. Cargo capacity stands at 603 litres. Toyota Safety Sense includes Pre-Collision Braking and Proactive Driving Assist as standard.
The bZ4X Touring is available now through Al-Futtaim Toyota showrooms, priced from AED 184,900. Six exterior colours are offered, including Crystal White Pearl, Sapphire Blue Pearl, and Brilliant Bronze Metallic.
