Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre, an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has announced a AED300 million project to modernise the emirate’s public transport infrastructure, with the contract awarded to Conduent Business Solutions S.A.S., a French subsidiary of the global Conduent Group.

The announcement was made during the centre’s participation in LIVEX 2026. The project covers two interconnected systems: an Automated Vehicle Management (AVM) platform for real-time bus monitoring and fleet operations, and an Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system that will support contactless bank card payments, digital wallets and QR codes.

Conduent brings more than 50 years of experience in smart mobility, with its solutions operating across more than 400 public transport networks in over 20 countries.

On the operations side, the AVM system is designed to improve schedule adherence, sharpen resource planning and strengthen data-driven decision-making for transport managers. The AFC system, meanwhile, aims to simplify the rider experience by offering more flexible payment options alongside richer operational data for service planning.

“This project represents a strategic investment in developing the digital infrastructure of Abu Dhabi’s public transport system and reflects the centre’s commitment to leveraging data and advanced technologies to build a smarter, more efficient and sustainable mobility ecosystem. Through the development of transport management systems and smart fare collection solutions, we are strengthening our data-driven decision-making capabilities, enhancing service efficiency and customer experience, supporting quality of life, and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for living, investment and the development of future mobility solutions,” Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre said in a statement.

The centre said the investment is intended to prepare the emirate’s mobility network for future population and economic growth, and forms part of a broader push to apply artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to transport operations.
