UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan addressed all those who call the UAE home, affirming that the security and protection of citizens, residents and visitors stands at the very top of the country’s priorities. “With God’s grace, the UAE is fully prepared to confront these threats,” he said via an X post.
The President extended his deepest appreciation to the armed forces, security services and all national institutions, praising “the highest standards of readiness and cooperation” displayed in keeping the country safe. “We are truly proud of them,” he added.
He also expressed gratitude toward the broader community for their solidarity and loyalty, noting that Emiratis and residents alike had demonstrated their love for the country through both words and actions. “In the UAE, everyone is Emirati through their love for this land and their contributions to it,” he said.
Sheikh Mohamed offered prayers for those who lost their lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery, closing with a pledge that the UAE – “the land of Zayed” – would remain “strong in its unity, steadfast in defending its sovereignty, and steadily advancing towards the future.”
In his first public remarks since Iran launched missiles at Gulf neighbours amid the US-Israeli conflict, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared that the country was in good standing and that its people would be protected.
“The UAE has thick skin and bitter flesh – we are no easy prey,” Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also ruler of Abu Dhabi, said in comments, made on Friday when visiting those injured in strikes, aired on Abu Dhabi TV on Saturday.
The president pledged that the UAE would fulfil its duty toward its citizens and residents, whom he described as part of the national family, and vowed to protect everyone living in the country.

US President Donald Trump claimed via a post on Truth Social on Saturday that Iran had “apologized and surrendered” to its Middle Eastern neighbours and pledged to halt attacks on them, attributing the move entirely to sustained US and Israeli military pressure.
Trump declared it “the first time that Iran has ever lost” to surrounding regional countries, adding that Iran is “no longer the bully of the Middle East” but rather “THE LOSER OF THE MIDDLE EAST,” and will be for many decades until they surrender or, more likely, completely collapse!”
Trump also warned that Iran would be hit “very hard” and said areas and groups not previously considered for targeting were now “under serious consideration for complete destruction,” citing Iran’s conduct as justification.
He signed off by taking credit for the outcome, noting that Iran had said “thank you President Trump” – to which he responded, “you’re welcome.”
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported Saturday that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on the town of Nabi Chit in the Baalbek district has climbed to 16, with a further 35 people wounded. The ministry’s Emergency Health Operations Centre noted that the figures remain preliminary.
In a separate incident, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that three people were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a building in the village of Burj Rahhal in the Tyre district in southern Lebanon.

Saudi Arabia has announced the successful interception and destruction of two ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward Prince Sultan Air Base.
The announcement was made by Ministry of Defence spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
UAE air defence systems on Saturday intercepted 15 of 16 ballistic missiles detected, with the remaining one falling into the sea. Of 121 UAVs detected, 119 were destroyed, while two came down within UAE territory.
Since the beginning of what the Ministry of Defence described as blatant Iranian aggression, a total of 221 ballistic missiles have been detected, of which 205 were destroyed, 14 fell into the sea, and two landed within the UAE.
A total of 1,305 Iranian UAVs have been tracked, with 1,229 intercepted and 76 coming down on UAE soil. Eight cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed.
The attacks have resulted in three fatalities – nationals of Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh – and 112 minor injuries among individuals of diverse nationalities including Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian and Turkish.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its full readiness to counter any threats and its resolve to protect the UAE’s sovereignty, security, stability and national interests.
Dubai Police on Saturday urged the public to avoid photographing or sharing images of sensitive locations, warning that seemingly innocent photos can be manipulated, taken out of context, and used to spread misinformation.
The authority reminded residents that protecting such sites is a national responsibility and called on the community to remain vigilant, describing public awareness as the first and strongest line of defence against the spread of harmful content.
