UAE residents are preparing for the winter travel season as December and January approach, with many looking to travel abroad for experiences, family reunions, and celebrations.
Atlys, a visa processing platform, has released data on destinations that residents are choosing for winter travel.
“The UAE’s population represents one of the world’s most diverse communities, and travel aspirations are equally varied. At Atlys, our mission is to make global travel accessible to everyone, regardless of passport. Winter is a meaningful season when people seek connection, exploration, and celebration. We’re honored to facilitate these moments seamlessly,” Mohak Nahta, Founder & CEO, Atlys said in a statement.
Egypt destination of choice for UAE residents seeking short-duration holidays
For residents seeking breaks of shorter duration, nearby destinations continue to attract travellers due to accessibility and diversity.
Egypt remains among the most popular choices. The country offers the Pyramids, temples of Luxor, and resorts along the Red Sea, combining history and climate.
Georgia has established itself as a winter destination. Travellers visit Tbilisi’s old town, cafés, and mountain areas such as Gudauri, providing winter conditions without flights of long duration.
Morocco completes the selection with its climate and landscapes. The country features souks of Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, and desert trails, located a short flight from the UAE.
UK and Schengen Zone attract UAE residents for extended holidays
For residents planning journeys of longer duration, winter provides opportunities to visit destinations that perform well during colder months.
The United Kingdom attracts UAE residents seeking a European winter. London offers lights and shopping, Edinburgh provides celebrations, and the English countryside offers charm for holidays of extended duration.
The Schengen Zone serves as the gateway to Europe’s winter experiences. A single visa provides access to 27 countries, including France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. Travellers can visit Christmas markets or ski on slopes, gaining entry to experiences across countries.
Nearly 80 per cent of the UAE’s population comprises expatriates from over 200 nationalities, creating variation in visa requirements and complexity in travel planning.
Atlys addresses this through a platform where travellers can verify eligibility, submit documentation, and monitor application progress, allowing focus on travel rather than processes.
