Emirates has introduced what it describes as the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat, launching the product on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.

The centrepiece of the redesign is a full-height privacy divider between every seat, controlled via the seat’s built-in passenger control unit. Passengers can raise, lower and lock the screen using the same controls that adjust the seat’s position, with preset modes for lounging and dining. The cabin retains a 2-3-2 layout with 28 seats in total. Each seat is 20 inches wide with a pitch of up to 39 inches, and reclines into a cradle position without encroaching on the row behind.

Wireless charging makes its debut in the cabin alongside the new seat, joining USB-C ports at every position. A tray table with an integrated phone holder allows personal devices to function as a secondary screen during meals or in-flight entertainment. Passengers watch content on a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen running Emirates’ ice entertainment system. The A350 also adds left and right exterior camera angles to the existing forward and downward views.

Comfort additions include the U-Dream headrest from Safran Seats, previously seen in other Emirates cabins, now finished in leather for Premium Economy. A manually deployable leather footrest completes the seating package.

On the dining side, meals continue to be served on Royal Doulton china with linen napkins. A wine selection is expanding from September, with a Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 and La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014 available on select routes. October brings a first for the airline: Wiston Estate Brut NV will be served on UK routes as Emirates’ first English sparkling wine, exclusive to Premium Economy.

Amenity kits on long-haul flights have been redesigned in partnership with United for Wildlife, using bio-based materials including cactus leather alternatives. The kits introduce Aveda skincare products to Premium Economy for the first time.

Emirates launched Premium Economy in 2022 and has since expanded the product across its A350 fleet. The cabin has picked up several industry awards, including Best Premium Economy Class at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in both 2024 and 2025.
