Norway have reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Brazil 2-1 in the round of 16 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, ending Brazil’s campaign in the tournament.
Erling Haaland was the decisive figure, scoring both Norwegian goals in the 79th and 90th minutes. Brazil pulled one back through a Neymar penalty in the 10th minute of stoppage time, but it was not enough to force extra time.
The brace took Haaland’s tournament tally to seven goals, level with France’s Kylian Mbappé and Argentina’s Lionel Messi at the top of the Golden Boot standings.
Norway will face the winner of the Mexico vs England last-16 tie in the quarter-finals.
