Etihad Rail is asking the public to choose who sits in the first seat on its first passenger train.
Through an initiative called “The Passenger Who Represents Us All”, the railway is inviting nominations from across the UAE ahead of its inaugural service on June 30.
The selected individual will occupy Seat 1 in Coach 1 on the first departure from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi, making them the railway’s first-ever fare-paying passenger.
Nominees can be a friend, family member, colleague, neighbour or community member. The nominator simply makes the case for why their chosen person deserves the recognition. Etihad Rail will review submissions and announce the selected individual before the launch date.
Nominations close on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 10:00am.
“As we prepare to welcome passengers on board Etihad Rail for the first time, we wanted this honour to belong to someone who reflects the values that have helped shape our nation. The Passenger Who Represents Us All is a celebration of the individuals whose contributions strengthen communities, support others and help move the UAE forward every day,” Adhraa Almansoori, Executive Director of Commercial at Etihad Rail Mobility said in a statement.
The initiative sits alongside wider momentum around the 30 June launch. Etihad Rail reported more than 5,000 ticket reservations within the first two days of bookings opening, with the railway’s app briefly topping the UAE App Store free download chart.
Introductory fares on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route start from AED 55 in Comfort Class and AED 120 in Premium Class.
