US President Donald Trump revealed that both Israel and Iran are seeking an immediate ceasefire, saying final negotiations toward a peace deal are underway.
He cautioned that the process remains vulnerable to disruption but expressed optimism that things would “move quickly.”
Trump added that a naval blockade would remain fully in place until a final deal is reached.
The Israel Defense Forces announced it had struck several infrastructure sites at a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran.
The military said the facilities were used by Iranian armed forces to produce and export raw materials for weapons, including critical components for ballistic missile development.
Israel’s military announced early Monday that a missile had been launched from Yemen in the direction of Israel, adding that its air defence systems were actively intercepting and responding to the threat.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s parliament, issued a stark warning that American and Israeli bases and assets across the region have become “legitimate targets” following what he described as a naval blockade against Iran and US authorisation of Israeli military action.
Ghalibaf accused Israel of showing no commitment to a ceasefire or dialogue, pointing to what he called violations of agreements relating to Lebanon as evidence that it only responds to force. He said Iran’s armed forces remain ready to act, adding that “the hand of our armed forces is open, as always.”
The head of the UAE’s National Media Office, Abdulla M Alhamed, has hit back at what he described as Iranian-orchestrated drone attacks targeting the country’s peaceful nuclear energy programme, saying such acts amount to “moral bankruptcy.”
Alhamed said the attacks, attributed to Iran and its proxies, had failed in their aim of undermining UAE security and had instead made the country stronger and more resilient. He credited the UAE’s institutional response for handling the incident with transparency and responsibility, which he said effectively turned it into an international indictment of the aggressor.
He noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency had reaffirmed its confidence in the safety, integrity, and credibility of the UAE’s nuclear programme in the wake of the incident.
Alhamed concluded by asserting that the UAE’s sovereignty cannot be coerced, and called for stronger international protections for civilian nuclear facilities as a safeguard for global stability.
Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation has submitted a second formal protest to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), condemning what it described as criminal Iranian violations of Kuwaiti airspace and attacks on Kuwait International Airport.
The directorate said the violations constitute a flagrant breach of international civil aviation agreements and pose a direct threat to the safety of passengers, airlines, airport staff, and critical infrastructure.
The most recent attack targeted Terminal T1, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and significant material damage, while also forcing the suspension of flights to and from the airport. The incident was described as especially grave given that it occurred just 48 hours after the terminal had reopened following repairs from an earlier Iranian strike on February 28 this year.
Kuwait called on ICAO to take urgent and decisive action to protect civil airspace, prevent further violations, and hold those responsible accountable under international law. The directorate also reserved Kuwait’s right to take whatever measures it deems necessary to protect its sovereignty, airspace, and the safety of all those at Kuwait International Airport.
Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has moved to counter misinformation circulating on social media, stating that reports about the closure of Qatari airspace or the suspension of flights are inaccurate.
The authority clarified that an active NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued with the aim of identifying alternative flight routes to ensure air navigation services continue at the highest levels of safety and efficiency under current conditions, in line with internationally recognised standards and practices.
The CAA urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified claims.
The US Ambassador to Israel, Yechiel Leiter, confirmed that Iran fired 11 ballistic missiles at Israel, describing each as capable of devastating an entire neighbourhood and killing hundreds of people. He said no country with self-respect would absorb such an attack without responding.
Israel is now striking Iranian surface-to-surface missile launch sites, as well as certain infrastructure facilities outside the energy sector, he added.
Leiter also warned that if Hezbollah – which he said has been rejected by the Lebanese people – fires on Israel, its command centres in the Dahiya district will face a severe response. He stressed this dimension of the conflict is separate from the situation with Iran, and called the Iranian regime “maniacal.”
The Israeli Air Force has carried out strikes against military sites in western and central Iran, according to an IDF statement posted on X. No details on casualties or precise locations were released.
